The 4th annual New York City Cupcake Run is taking place next Saturday, October 15th at Astoria Park starting at 11 a.m.

The Cupcake Run is exactly how it sounds – participants will compete a 5K run, approximately two laps around the park, while stopping at checkpoints to eat three cupcakes on the route.

The event was planned was Jason Feirman, who also started the NYC Pizza Run in 2010.

“I love eating and I love running, so I decided to combine these passions into a one of kind New York City experience,” Feirman said.

He added that he created the cupcake run for those who have “a bit more of a sweet tooth.”

There’s a $50 registration fee that includes a t-shirt, bib, three cupcakes and a gift bag.

Participants are also invited to Rocky McBride’s after the race, where they’ll be served free food and drinks, including “cupcake-themed drinks, like cupcake martinis.”

Part of the proceeds will go toward New York Cares.
