Councilman Costa Constantinides gathered with a group of volunteers and budget delegates at Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden Monday night to announce the results of this year’s participatory budgeting.

More than 1,700 residents voted to fund the top three projects, totaling $1.63 million.

Here are this year’s winners:

• Water fountain project in Astoria Park ($500,000);

• Picnic/gaming tables installation in Astoria Park ($250,000);

• Real time bus countdown clocks ($480,000).

“This gives us the opportunity to really bring direct democracy to our citizenry and have them make decisions on how to spend real tax dollars in our district,” Constantinides said.
