Man tries to rob Sussex Bank

Police say a man tried to rob the Sussex Bank, located at 26-21 Astoria Boulevard, yesterday afternoon.

After entering the bank, the suspect displayed a firearm and demanded money. However, authorities say he left empty-handed. He fled toward Astoria Boulevard and 27th Street with no proceeds.

Police described him as 25 to 35 years old, 5’10” and approximately 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing construction clothing, including a hard hat, a reflective vest, a dust mask, gloves and dark sunglasses.
